8 categories of commonly used printing paper
What are the commonly used printing paper? 8 categories of commonly used printing paper, take you to understand the characteristics of paper and a deeper understanding of the printing industry
1. Offset paper (Dowling paper)
Offset paper is divided into special numbers, No. 1 and No. 2 according to the ratio of paper crushing. There are single-sided and double-sided, and there are two levels of super calendering and ordinary calendering. Paper weights are 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 150, 180 (g / m2), and commonly used double-sided offset paper is 70, 80, 90, 100, 120 (g / m2) There are 50, 60, 70, 80 (g / m2) offset paper.
Offset paper has small stretchability, uniform absorption of ink, good flatness, tight and opaque, good whiteness, and strong water resistance. Used for processing and manufacturing thin paper packaging and decoration printing. When printing on offset paper, the paper should not be piled up too high, especially when the smoothness is high, and the prints with large amount of ink should prevent the back side from sticking and staining. Generally, anti-fouling agents, powder spraying or liner paper are used. Conjunctive offset printing inks and better quality printing inks should be replaced. The viscosity of the ink should not be too high, otherwise there will be de-powdering and hair-pulling.
Flat paper specifications: 787 × 1092, 850 × 1168, 880 × 1230 (mm × mm).
Roll paper specifications: width 787, 1092, 850 (mm).
Uses: Offset paper is mainly used by offset (offset) printing machines or other printing machines for printing higher-level color prints, such as color pictorials, picture books, posters, color printing trademarks, and some high-end book covers, illustrations, etc.
2. Coated paper
Coated paper is also called coated paper. This kind of paper is coated with a layer of white paste on the base paper and processed by super calendering to produce advanced printing paper, also known as printing coated paper. The whiteness is high, the paper fibers are evenly distributed, the thickness is uniform, the stretchability is small, it has good elasticity and strong water resistance and tensile properties, and it has good absorption and reception status of the ink. When printing on coated paper, the pressure should not be too high, and offset printing resin ink and bright ink should be used. To prevent the back from sticking and staining, methods such as adding antifouling agent and dusting can be used.
There are two types of coated paper, single-sided and double-sided. Weight: 70, 80, 100, 105, 115, 120, 128, 150, 157, 180, 200, 210, 240, 250 (g / m2); of which: 105, 115, 128, 157 (g / m2) imported There are many paper specifications.
Flat paper specifications: 648 × 953, 787 × 970, 787 × 1092 (there is no roll paper in China yet). 889 × 1194 is the specification of imported coated paper.
Coated paper is mainly used for printing pictures, covers, postcards, exquisite product samples and color trademarks.
3. White paper
White paper is a kind of outer packaging paper used for printing various trademarks and packaging cartons. The weight is 220, 240, 250, 280, 300, 350, 400 (g / m2); Flat paper size: 787 × 787 , 787 × 1092, 1092 × 1092 (mm × mm).
White plate paper is composed of syrup and dough paste. The syrup is white, and the syrup is generally the original color of the raw material. White paper is divided into two types: powder white paper and ordinary white paper. According to the bottom layer, there are two kinds of gray background and white background. The quality requirements of white plate paper: white, smooth, uniform thickness, firm texture, no powder and fluff, and uniform ink absorption performance, small expansion and contraction, toughness, not broken when bending.Mainly used for printing packaging boxes and merchandise decoration backing paper. In book binding, it is used for binding materials such as back cover of simple hardcover books and radial paper (ridge strips) in hardcover books.
4. Letterpress paper
Letterpress paper is the main paper used for printing books and magazines in letterpress. Relief paper can be divided into four levels: No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 according to the distribution ratio of paper materials. The number of the paper represents the quality of the paper. The larger the number, the worse the paper quality. Paper weight: (49 ～ 60) ± 2 (g / m2); Flat paper specifications: 787 × 1092, 850 × 1168, 880 × 1230 (mm × mm); Roll paper specifications: width 787, 1092, 1575 (mm ) There are some special sizes of paper.
Letterpress printing paper is mainly used for letterpress printing. The characteristics of this paper are similar to newsprint, but not exactly the same. Because the ratio of paper pulp and the knocking of the pulp are better than that of newsprint, the fiber structure of letterpress paper is relatively uniform, and the gaps between the fibers are filled with a certain amount of filler and glue, and they are also bleached. This paper has good adaptability to printing. Slightly different from newsprint, its ink absorption is not as good as newsprint, but it has the characteristics of uniform ink absorption; water resistance and whiteness of paper are better than newsprint.
Relief paper has the characteristics of uniform texture, lint-free, slightly elastic, opaque, slightly water-resistant, and certain mechanical strength.
It is suitable for the text of important books, scientific books, academic journals, textbooks for universities and colleges, etc.
Newsprint, also called white newspaper, is the main paper used for newspapers and books. The characteristics of newsprint are: the paper is light and light, and has good elasticity; the ink absorption performance is good, which ensures that the ink can be fixed on the paper surface; after the paper is calendered, the two sides are smooth and not lint, so that both sides The imprint is relatively clear and full; has a certain mechanical strength; good opacity; suitable for high-speed rotary printing. Its weight is: (49 ～ 52) ± 2 (g / m2), flat paper specifications: 787 × 1092, 850 × 1168, 880 × 1230 (mm × mm), roll paper specifications: width 787, 1092, 1575 ( mm).
This kind of paper is produced from mechanical wood pulp (or other chemical pulp) as a raw material, contains a lot of lignin and other magazines, it is not suitable for long-term storage. If the storage time is too long, the paper will turn yellow and become brittle, the water resistance is poor, and it is not suitable for writing. Printing ink or book ink must be used, the viscosity of the ink should not be too high, and the moisture of the printing surface must be strictly controlled during lithographic printing.
It is suitable for newspapers, periodicals, textbooks, picture books and other text papers.
6. Embossed paper
Embossed paper is a cover paper specially produced. There is a less obvious pattern on the surface of the paper. The colors are gray, green, beige and pink, and are generally used to print monochrome covers. Embossed paper is brittle and the spine easily breaks when bound. When printing, the paper has a large degree of curvature and it is difficult to feed paper, which affects the printing efficiency.
7. Dictionary paper
Dictionary paper is a kind of high-grade thin paper for books and periodicals. The paper is thin, strong and resistant to folding. The surface of the paper is white and meticulous. The texture is tight and smooth, slightly transparent, and has certain water resistance. Mainly used for printing dictionaries, dictionaries, manuals, classic books and books with many page numbers and easy to carry. Dictionary paper has high requirements on the pressure and ink color in the printing process, so special attention must be paid to the process when printing.
8. Kraft paper
Kraft paper has a high tensile force, with single light, double light, stripes, and no texture. It is mainly used for packaging paper, envelopes, paper bags, etc. and printing machine drum wrapping.
